Bexhill Observer (13/02/09): South East Tumbling NDP Qualifier
Two talented youngsters from the 1066 Gymnastics Academy appeared in the South East Tumbling NDP Qualifiers at Crawley's K2 Leisure Centre.
Competing in the national 2 level for the first time, Charlotte Whittaker produced three strong tumbles to finish with a total of 74.300 and a respectable 12th place in the 13 years+ girls' age group.
Josh Millard contested the 11-12 years boys' group at the national 1 level. He made a slight mistake in his first tumble but recovered well, and came back with secure second and third tumbles.
His finishing score of 75.300 earned him the gold medal and the oppportunity to represent the region at the national finals in Stoke-on-Trent during May.
The 1066 Gymnastics Academy has been training at the Helenswood School in Hastings for several months but from March the club will be moving into its large purpose-built training centre in Brett Drive behind Ravenside Retail & Leisure Park's Tesco store.
