Bexhill Observer (31/10/08): Sussex Gymnastics Championships
1066 Gymnastics Academy enjoyed a successful debut at the Sussex Championships in Burgess Hill. Kicking off the weekend were the men’s artistic gymnasts and the new club was well represented in the under – 10 age category by four young stars.
Callan Hall produced some terrific routines and completed many new skills for the first time to finish with a score of 58.100 and sixth place, a very impressive performance considering he was beaten only by competitors a year older than him. Kasbian Rogers (9th – 53.459), Samuel Clarke (10th – 49.400), and Josh Millard (12th - 41.600) also did well.
In the tumbling competition Daniel Dinsdale made an error with one of his runs which meant he finished third with 15.600 in the level 1 under 12 men’s event, but Jack Cooper (22.000) performed his level 2 under – 12 men’s group fairly smoothly to claim the gold medal. Cooper (23.300) also claimed the title of under – 12 floor and vault champion on the back of a strong floor routine and superb vault.
Coach Matthew Hart said: “There was a certain level of anticipation from our peers and colleagues, stepping into the arena as a new club. The boys did fantastically and I am very pleased with the way they represented 1066.”
