Tornados and Terrors teams retire

The 1066 Tornados and the 1066 Terrors enjoyed successul final outings in Bracknell at the British leg of the International Team Gym Tournament.

The 1066 Terrors, comprised of Joe Bond, Sam Boreham, Dylan Evans, Sam Knight-Farman, Ben Hilmer-Ewel, Harry Markfort, Lewis Palmer, Henry Stevens, Jake Townsend, appeared in the Youth Male group. The earned 7.930 on Floor, 11.000 on Tumble and 12.000 on Trampette. They took a total of 30.930 and a set of gold medals. The team has enjoyed over a year of successul events claiming gold at county championships and regional championships in late 2010, gold at sectionals in 2011 followed by a second-place finish at British championships. Some of the boys have moved on to form a regional primary mixed team while others have moved up to junior level to form a national junior men's team.

The 1066 Tornados were represented by Sam Clarke, Callan Hall, Sam Hammond, Talia Hutchinson, Liam McKean, Gemma Morgan, Chloe Palmer and Alannah Wood. They scored 9.520 on Floor, 12.750 on Tumble and 12.200 on Trampette. They collected a total of 34.470 and second place. The team has appeared at four events this year, each with a different line up. The team debuted at national qualifiers at the start of the year and then enjoyed second place at British Championships. They finished their year with back-to-back appearances at the Sussex Gymnastics Championships and this final event in Bracknell. Most of the girls from the team have moved on to form a regional senior women's team with some of the coaching staff while the boys have moved on to form a national junior men's team.
