Matthew founded the Academy in October 2008 and debuted with six boys at the Sussex Gymnastics Championships the same month. He nurtured the club through its early days and spent countless hours travelling with his squad of boys to facilities in Maidstone and Crawley to provide the gymnasts with access to the specialist equipment they required.
The move into the Academy's brand new gymnastics training centre in Bexhill allowed Matthew to start rapidly expanding the club. Additional coaches allowed lots of new members from Bexhill and Hastings to get involved in gymnastics with many of them being new to the sport.
Matthew works with the Academy's competitive boys ranging from Floor & Vault events, Tumbling, Team Gym and Men's Artistic Gymnastics. He is one of the very few coaches in the South East qualified in Freestyle Gymnastics and very much enjoys welcoming teenagers into the gym twice a week.
